In 1876 Russian born priest Artyom Aristov had developed a positive reputation for his work as a demonologist in the small villages of Romania. Treating nearly fifty cases of “possession” that year (most of which were superstitious villagers) Father Aristov “cleansed” numerous victims of possessions, their homes and their families.
It was September of that year when he was called upon a small family living in Rasinari (one of Transylvania’s oldest villages). Svetlana Lupesco, an eighteen year old girl had was four months pregnant at the time and seemed to be suffering from unknown aliments. The girl was bedridden, loosing vitality daily. The girl was unable to be exposed to sunlight for prolonged periods and demanded to be fed the raw meat of the livestock. Svetlana would also be found in contorted positions seemingly impossible for the human form. At night, she would scream violently and claim “the child was trying to claw it’s way out of her”. It wasn’t long before the panicked and superstitious family called upon the services of Father Aristov.
It should be noted here that the child’s father was not present. It is unknown who the father was but the family would state that Svetlana was seduced by a “Strigori” or “Devil”. A supernatural creature who had violated their daughter.
Father Aristov preceded with the exorcism after interviewing the family and seeing Svetlana for himself. Though the procedure began with violent results (including Aristov’s claim he saw the fetal abomination try to force itself from her womb) Aristov’s exorcism rites proved to be ineffective on the suffering girl. Svetlana began to wildly thrash, her pulse depleting by the second. Thinking quickly, Father Aristov made the rash decision to preform a caesarean section of the poor girl.
With some of the townsfolk and family members holding her down, Aristov preformed the caesarean and removed the child, horrifying all within the small bedroom. The creature gave our a sharp screech and violently thrashed in Aristov’s hands. Protruding from the infant abominations mouth were two fangs in place of his two front teeth. The child’s ears were pointed and it’s skin was ghastly pale. In a posthumous analysis it appeared to be 90% blind. The internal organs that had formed were shriveled, it’s lungs nearly non existent. The child was born a carrier of Morbo Lamia (Vampirism)
For the past month fetal Vampyre had become sentient and began feeding on it’s mothers resources. When Svetlana no longer had the nutrients it needed, it began to feed directly from it’s mother, crawling around within her body and draining her of her blood supply in addition to feeding on her various internal organs, causing Svetlana to experience excruciating pain.
Father Aristov, even after performing countless exorcisms, was in awe. Svetlana, unfortunately did not survive the procedure. The girls father grabbed the vampyre from Aristov and strangled it to death.
Aristov preserved the creature as a deadly reminder to those in the world who did not beleive in evil. Of course, Lockfield purchased the specimen with a much more medical based viewpoint.
